The last gathering of the year started with thanks to the Knapps, self introductions, congratulations to Joyce Soroka for her new position of president of the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society, raffles, 50/50, reading of the last meeting’s minutes, treasurer and membership reports. Jeanette Wilson, in charge of the Nominating Committee presented the proposed slate of officers for the 2010 year, which was approved. New officers include Alice Bader as 2nd Vice President, Joyce Soroka filling Alice Bader’s unexpired Trustee position and Hank Messing as Trustee.

Old business included discussion on a new brochure in cooperation with Trish Kane and figuring out ways of better promoting the Marketplace on the website.

New business included info on ordering the new World Guide, discussion on what to do with the Society library (it will be listed and put up for sale in the Marketplace and whatever is not wanted by our members will be donated to the Theodore Burr Resource Center in Oxford, NY), We also talked about memberships and when to stop mailings if people do not renew their memberships. We will be conducting a photography contest, all seasons, NY covered bridges, photos since 2000. Information is on the website for submission of photos. The contest will be for the purpose of creating our own calendar for 2011.  A couple of possible projects for next year were mentioned. There was also a discussion of the fact that in New York there is no legal or penal definition of a covered bridge and therefore the arson of one would not be punishable by anything more than a misdemeanor. Chuck Knapp will be doing some more research on this and letting us know what we can do.

After going through little news on bridges, news of members all the members of the Executive Board and Trustees wish all our members a safe, healthy and happy holiday season and look forward to when we meet again in March.
