The June meeting was held at the Oxford Memorial Library in Oxford, NY and home of the future Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Resource Center. We had a short business meeting discussing how we still do not have anyone to lead the Safari next year. The group that went this year decided Buck's County, PA would be a good place to go.  We discussed the 2011 NYS Covered Bridge Calendar. The July meeting had to be changed to Blenheim Covered Bridge because of financial considerations. There were several pieces of news on bridges including the fact that an oversized tractor trailer drove through the Mt. Orne bridge in NH, one of the ones we had seen on Safari and DOT had it closed because of the damage. Doug Smith had emailed that a new romantic shelter had been built in Summerhill, between Homer and Locke. We also had the sad news of the passing of Sally Smith's husband Abner in May. We had an excellent and informative presentation by Fred Lanfear, member of the Oxford Library Board of Directors and Trish Kane on the history, plans and progress of the Theodore Burr Resource Center, including showing us the room it will be in.
