Meeting Summary, March 13, 2011
Oxford Memorial Library, Oxford, NY
The meeting was brought to order and the Board of the Oxford Memorial
Library and Trish and Bob Kane were thanked for the use of the facility and
the program for the day. We had 18 members and 2 Oxford Board members
attend.
Old business covered the calendar sales of which we only have 5 left. Our
45th Anniversary Dinner Meeting will be held at the Spaghetti Warehouse on
April 10th and we are hoping to get as many charter members and past Board
and Trustees there. We had a Safari report from Alice Bader which will be in
Buck’s County PA May 14-15. Other dates and meetings were confirmed. On July
2nd there will be the grand opening and dedication on the Theodore Burr
Covered Bridge Resource Center at the Oxford Memorial Library. We will have
a table there and we are hoping to have many members there to attend the
celebration as well as help us to man the booth.
New business included a discussion on the new photo contest for the 2012
calendar. Saturday June 4th is the Salisbury Covered Bridge Celebration
which is going to have an abundance of fun activities all day long. We hope
to have a table set up there as well. We need to know if anyone hears of
celebrations or fairs going on in or near towns with covered bridges so we
can get ourselves out there.
There was no new news on NY bridges and only that the Honeymoon CB in
Jackson, NH has been reopened since Karen Marshfield did such a wonderful
job reporting bridge news in the Newsletter. There are several members in
various stages of recuperation from procedures and accidents and operations.
After the meeting was closed, we were given a tour and update on the
Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Resource Center which has come very far since
we saw it last year. The Board of the Library is doing a great job on making
this Center highly serviceable as well as esthetically beautiful.
It was great meeting up with our covered bridge friends after a very long
winter and just know that those of you that couldn’t make it were sorely
missed.
