April, 2011
Our April meeting was held on April 10, 2011 at the Spaghetti Warehouse in Syracuse again with Al and Ron McGay, Linda Willauer and Marcia Bailey getting kudos for the arrangements and place setting surprises. After the usual self introductions etc. the members of the Board and Officers were introduced. We read the minutes and had a treasurer's report and Donna Freeland gave the annual report with where we had had our meetings, how many attended and some of the highlights of those meetings. Attendance was down a little from last year but the good news is that already for the first 2 months we are ahead of last year. She then acknowledged the passing of several of our members, especially Hank Messing and the many illnesses and operations that kept so many of our friends away from being active. A report of the upcoming meetings was given as well as upcoming dates for some Fairs, festivals and especially the opening celebration of the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Resource Center on July 2nd in Oxford, NY. There wasn't much covered bridge news except that several bridges in Lancaster Co. PA will be overhauled, funding intact. Our board member, Sharon Grossman has resigned and Dave Guay volunteered to fill her unexpired term ( I wonder what that means for outlet shopping when the yearly executive meeting is held !!!). The program for the meeting was the presentation of a DVD made by Linda Schott that celebrated and honored all the people who came before us for these 45 years as well as all the friends who are with us now.
This DVD is available for purchase (see separate article for details) as a fund raiser for the NYSCBS.
