Our spring dinner meeting was held again at the delicious Spaghetti Warehouse in Syracuse. Al and Ron McGay were thanked for making the arrangements and getting the cake and to Linda Willauer for favors and everyone else who donated numerous raffle items, including the 2 beautiful quilts made by Alice Bader and Marikka Guay. Donna went through the past year's meetings, again in many different places. We discussed the friends who have gone "through the portal" and the bridges we have seen brought back to life with Arnold Graton's help in Tuscarora Club and the progress on Halls Mills. We have also been watching with a sense of helplessness for the fate of the Blenheim bridge. Membership totals and participation at meetings is down as is expected with a "more seasoned" group of friends. The slate of officers and trustees for 2013 was again introduced. We went over the itinerary for the next couple of meetings. Alice Bader has a supply of generic but beautiful covered bridge calendars for 2014 that are available through her, the store and Donna for $6. plus shipping if you need them shipped. We are hoping to use calendar sales, NYSCBS pen/lights and mousepads as part of the fundraising for the year in lieu of the auction. We've been asked to help in decorating a new lodge in Glen Spey, NY with pictures of NYS covered bridges. We have also been given the opportunity to participate in the celebration of Summer Fun in New York event at the Gateway Information Center on N Interstate 81 June 28-29. We then heard of the Downsville bridge being closed and also Beaverkill. It was great seeing everyone after such a long winter.
