Richard R. (Dick) Wilson, 69, of
6342 Martin Drive, Rome, New York, died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 21,
2006 at SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse, New York. He was born October 6,
1937 in Schenectady, New York the son of Robert and Mildred Gould Wilson.
Dick was a world-renowned authority on Covered
Bridges. He was a Charter Member and served as President for the New York State Covered
Bridge Society for twenty-five years. He led covered bridge safaris for
thirty-seven years and was also the author of "New York State’s Covered Bridges."
Dick enjoyed spending time with his family at their
camp on Hedges Lake, New York and also loved playing tennis and going for walks.
He was an avid photographer and had thousands of covered bridge photos and
slides.
