August 9th the meeting was at the Livingston Manor covered bridge park. There was no old news. We went over some of the events for the upcoming Lighthouse/Covered Bridge Safari from Sept. 11-13th. We will be taking a boat ride on the Hudson and viewing 2 lighthouses after a morning trip to Saugerties Lighthouse and a guided tour of the Maritime Museum in Kingston. Sunday we are hoping to view a couple of CT. covered bridges on the way to southern CT to view the drawing of another masterpiece covered bridge done by Arnold Graton, across the water and the celebration to go with it. October 11th our meeting will be at Glimmerglass State Park to see the progress at Hyde Hall CB and possibly have a tour of the mansion at Hyde Hall as well. November 8th will be our dinner meeting in Hamden with the executive meeting the day before. Alice Bader has created another quilted masterpiece which will be presented for the first time at the Safari. The Covered Bridge Summit will be held in Oxford and attended by 4 of our members. A discussion was held and voted on that the Society will pick up the difference on the cost for the informational sign being created and erected at Hyde Hall. There is some fund raising being done initially. After the meeting we went over to see the condition of the Beaverkill CB which is pretty much a skeleton right now in the renovation process.
